Come out and enjoy an afternoon of FREE family fun at the 2011 Grandparents Day Festival at Imboden Creek Gardens. The festival activities include: arts & crafts, inflatable games, food vendors, face painting, musical entertainment, caricature artists, Masons fingerprinting (ICHIP program) and many more!

LSA Annual Golf Outing
Monday, September 12th
The Decatur Country Club

This event promises to provide a great day of golfing and lunch, dinner, a grand banquet featuring prizes and awards, and drinks on the course.

Enter a team, donate a door prize, or be a hole sponsor. All proceeds will directly benefit children attending the Lutheran Sschool Association and the mission of LSA – to bring the Gospel and the message of the cross to children and their families and to provide quality education to the children of today who are our leaders of tomorrow.

Format: Four person scramble
Registration & Lunch: 11:30 am
Shotgun Start: 12:30 pm
Dinner & Awards Banquet: 6:30 pm
Cost for Golf, Lunch, & Dinner, and drinks on Course is
$150.00 per person. Dinner only is: $30.00

Young Widowed Support Group

The death of a spouse or partner, at any age, can be an overwhelming loss. However, the loss for a young widow(er) is different. Issues can involve unfulfilled dreams, children, finances, loneliness and much more.

We invite you to attend the newly formed Young Widowed Support Group (suggested ages 20-55).
The Young Widowed Support Group can offer:
• Emotional support through your time of grieving and loneliness.
• Hope for a brighter tomorrow, even though that may sound impossible.
• Friendships with others who can cry, laugh and heal with you.

Dove’s Domestic Violence Education and Training
September 12 - 17, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Dove’s Conference Room - 302 S. Union in Decatur

Training is available for individuals interested in educating themselves on the issues surrounding domestic violence. After the successful completion of the training, individuals may also do direct service volunteering in the domestic violence program.

This training is approved by ICADV (Illinois Coalition Against Domestic Violence) and facilitated by Dove and other community agencies’ staff members. There is a $25 fee for the training.

To register, contact Barbara Blakey at (217) 428-6616. A pre-registration phone interview needs to take place by noon on September 7 and there is a registration meeting on September 8 at 5:00 p.m. at the Conference Room.

Individuals interested in making a difference in the lives of the women and children that Dove serves are encouraged to participate in this training. Be an advocate for peace in your school, workplace or church. This extensive training program will also allow people to volunteer in areas such as support groups facilitation, legal advocacy and children’s services. Dove provides services to Macon, Moultrie, Shelby, DeWitt and Piatt counties.





 

“Come Home to Grace”

In conjunction with National “Go Back to Church Sunday”, Grace United Methodist is sponsoring this event, beginning with three worship services (8:00am Traditional, 9:40am Contemporary, and 10:50am Traditional).

At 4:00 p.m., the Gospel Quartet, “The Calvarymen,” will present a concert in the church sanctuary. This award-winning gospel group is a Gaither-type men’s quartet. Grace Church encourages everyone to attend church on that Sunday—any church—but certainly welcomes anyone to “Come Home to Grace” in the heart of the city of Decatur, Illinois.
